The distance program is recommendable and uncomplicated.
Very friendly contact. Good organization. Informative reading.
I was very satisfied with the course. I think it's great that you can keep learning for FREE after the program. And that you keep getting support, etc. Sometimes I missed details, more precise information in the online consultation. Everything was always sent on time and accurately! The many offers (which are constantly being updated) are also great!
- flexible scheduling - able to email questions to the association at any time, quick answers
For me (a primary-school teacher), engaging with the topic of dyscalculia was very interesting, since we naturally encounter it often at school. The topic was presented understandably and the study materials are well organized. The whole process, from registration to completion, was simple and uncomplicated.
The dyslexia trainer course was simply structured, clearly organized, and easy to manage alongside a regular job. I chose the questionnaires and was very satisfied with my selection. The practical part felt a bit lacking, though. I did submit session documentation, but feedback on how I implemented the content was missing. I would have preferred submitting a few video sequences. Generally I was very satisfied with the course and can only recommend it.
Good structuring of the modules. Independent time management very good. Good feedback. Thank you very much!
I decided on this course in November 2013 and have not regretted choosing this provider. I could handle everything from home, and when there was a problem I could ask quickly via email. Replies came very quickly, which also applied to the evaluation of the modules I had answered. I can only recommend this course.
I teach students with dyslexia and/or dyscalculia at a primary school. The course gave me a valuable foundation for teaching. Thanks to the expertise I acquired in the distance course, the children are supported optimally. No teacher-training degree can do this. You acquire an understanding for dyslexic or dyscalculic people at the ADA. I'm glad I completed this training and would do it again any time.
By and large very appealing. You can read your way into the scripts well and work with them. The flexible scheduling is great! It allows you to finish on a relaxed, positive note. This distance course is highly recommended. I would consider one or two mandatory meetings, where you could exchange views on various issues, as a great addition.
I started my distance course more than two years ago and was able to complete it within the allotted time without any problems. With follow-up questions I always received a prompt answer — in short: a very good decision for my professional career!!
The materials are very informative and encourage further engagement with other materials. I was always able to schedule the time freely, so I could work on the side.
I really enjoyed not being under time pressure with concrete deadlines. Being able to do it when you really have time. In hindsight it's often somewhat hard to implement in practice. There's still a lot of experience and ideas missing for that …
very clearly arranged and easy to do alongside a job
The course was well structured and very informative. Sometimes I would have liked to have someone to exchange thoughts about the content with. With follow-up questions you always got answers from the friendly people at the ADA, but that wasn't always enough. Since I came to the topic as a lateral entrant, I read several additional materials to round out my picture. With pedagogical-didactic prior training, the extensive study materials are surely sufficient. Bottom line: I didn't regret the distance course at all, even though it was sometimes hard.
Very good materials. It's difficult to find dyslexic and dyscalculic people for the practical work.
The support during the course is very good. Every question is answered promptly. The exam questions should be adapted to the modules. There are questions that come up which are only addressed in the next module (dyslexia). This is balanced out by the option to ask follow-up questions in the block. The content of the modules is very usable. Many practical examples are named. In all areas (customer center or block) further information options are mentioned. The ADA goes to court for equal treatment of all trainers (Certified Dyslexia Trainers (ADA) for Germany). Overall I'm very satisfied with the support.
The course was a lot of fun and I was able to acquire a range of competencies that will probably ultimately help me find my place at the youth welfare office in Erlangen, which has so far been resistant to putting me on a list (probably there isn't one), but through the good communication I know that other trainers in Germany have difficulties too, and I'm hopeful. Likewise, one day I'll take the time and probably try the legal route to ensure that dyscalculic children also get equal opportunity compensation, because they are far more affected in terms of their behavioral abnormalities and their emotional and social competence — I've encountered both suicidal statements and eating disorders. Furthermore, children here are far too quickly sent by their teachers to child and youth psychiatrists, who then first make money off them, label them all as poor things, and then prescribe medication. Testing is often not clear and is still only done starting in 2nd grade. The course and also the whole organization in the network are very helpful here, even if Austria is probably simply more progressive than Germany
The only thing I was missing was a structured guide on how to build up the symptom training. I was very overwhelmed at the beginning and "fumbled around." Since I didn't study teaching, I had no idea about spelling didactics.
The personal support was outstanding — emails were always answered quickly, kindly, and without fuss! I also love that the course is built around practice and you walk away with so many tools. For German students, the occasional expression feels a bit foreign. One point of criticism though: I would have liked to see scientific findings, historical background, or further specialist literature from a broader range of authors named as required reading.
