A program that's worth it

I got my certification 4 years ago. Since then I've gladly and successfully worked with the AFS method. A really rewarding job that's unfortunately still much too little known in Germany — and sadly, at least in Baden-Württemberg, isn't recognized by the youth welfare office. Such a pity. The support during the training was quick and professionally competent. I was very satisfied.

Mixed

During the program I learned a lot and was able to deepen quite a bit. As a speech therapist, however, I think specialties like phonetics and phonology aren't really considered enough — these areas can also support a person with dyslexia (I speak from personal experience). I also missed scientific topics on dyslexia, like findings from neurology, neurolinguistics, and corresponding studies. In practical terms I was able to benefit quite a lot and could put the various tips for practical work to good use. For the future I'd love to see the (natural) scientific part get a bit more attention. In recent years some very interesting studies on dyslexia have been published that could potentially give new input for the pedagogical support of children, teens, and adults. The program isn't particularly dyslexia-friendly itself — there's a lot to read and write. Maybe in the future you could also work with video and audio.

Dyslexia Trainer Certificate Program responded:
Thank you for your feedback! As you correctly note, dyslexic students may sometimes additionally need professional speech therapy support. However, speech therapy falls within the area of responsibility of speech therapists and not dyslexia trainers, who work on a pedagogical-didactic level. The certified dyslexia trainer is a complement to, not a substitute for, medical or therapeutic professions.

Good support, great materials, useful online resources

Having successfully completed all three distance courses over the past two years, I can say I unreservedly recommend ADA's distance learning. I feel excellently prepared for working with the children, teens, and their parents in my profession, and I can put my knowledge into practice well. Plus, a large pool of materials is available to me online. The support during the program was pleasant and trouble-free, and even for questions I always felt I had competent partners at my side.

The distance course is a worry-free total package. The materials are easy to understand and very helpful for the work. Email contact is always quick and friendly too. The practical section is well applicable in daily work with the children. I can only recommend this course.

Great distance course

I decided to do the distance course as a certified dyslexia trainer along with the follow-up program as a certified dyscalculia trainer, and I haven't regretted doing both via this platform. Registration and organization went very quickly, the materials arrived promptly and I could get started right away. The scripts for the modules are really easy to work through, everything is explained precisely. With the additional practice hours you can immediately apply and try out what you've learned. Support and processing of the submitted question sets were really fast and trouble-free. Great program, highly recommended!

Very good guidance and introduction to the work as a dyscalculia trainer

Some time ago I completed the distance course as a dyscalculia trainer. Since then I've been working as a trainer and can say the training was and is good. The continuing education, the annual conference with its lectures, and the option of exchange with others form a great background for the work. The open system of the training leaves plenty of room to integrate a wide range of methods and materials. Excellent!

Best Ever!

Top rating for the development of the clear, instructive, high-quality modules — it simply couldn't be better. I'm thrilled with these special programs since 2011. Competent staff have been there for me by phone or email. The best continuing education that you can really rely on. I use the learning support, as well as learnedy, the Easy Training Program and the Easy Training Set Plus, and of course the training center. Through them I first learned about the reading template. All scientifically well-founded. I'll remain loyal to you and look forward to a future with you. Your Claudia Gonzalez Zimmerling

Optimal support

For any kind of question regarding work with people with dyslexia or dyscalculia, ADA replies promptly — that's very productive and helpful. I've been experiencing this for four years and feel well supported because of it.

Review of the distance course

I've had extensively positive experiences with my additional qualification as a dyslexia trainer. As a primary school teacher I can draw on the experience I gained every day and advise parents more competently. Thank you! I would still wish for more detailed examples of diagnostic reports.

Dyslexia Trainer Certificate Program responded:
Thank you for your feedback! In the study materials and the AFS test manual, you'll find many examples for interpreting test results and templates for pedagogical assessments. Additionally, the AFS test has an automatic generation function for a pedagogical assessment based on the test results. This can serve as a starting point that you then individually adapt.

Dyslexia trainer distance course, completed 2019

The organization and content of the course are outstanding! Communication with the organizational team during the course: * uncomplicated and always friendly support * fast, helpful, and competent guidance and answering of questions, both by phone and by email Content of the course: * thoroughly prepared * demanding and very clearly structured * up to date with current research * access to many possibilities for inspiration for the practical part of the training Outstanding continuing education offerings and opportunities for collegial exchange — you experience yourself as part of a community committed with great dedication and seriousness to the well-being of children and to supporting adults. The person is at the center, not profit, and that defines the spirit of the work we share.

Dyslexia and dyscalculia program

The certification as a dyslexia trainer and the follow-up course as a dyscalculia trainer at ADA can only be highly recommended! The module books are very well organized, the structure of the program is very well planned and thought through. The required practice provides a first look into working life. For questions you can contact ADA at any time and get a thorough answer fairly quickly. The test questions are not too hard and not too easy — just right for checking the knowledge you've acquired. I'd take a small point off only because you do have to obtain some required reading separately.

Very satisfied!

Through self-paced learning I could work through the scripts whenever it was possible — which was a big help in my professional everyday life. Also, depending on prior knowledge and background, certain parts can be worked through more intensively with the accompanying literature. Questions were always answered very quickly (I used email). Shadowing other trainers helped me personally a lot — I'd recommend any graduate to take advantage of this option.

Good training — sadly not state-recognized

The topics are presented understandably and can be easily prepared on your own. The training period is appropriate. Support during the course is available. Thanks to the required practice time during the training, you're well prepared for independent work. Sadly the course isn't state-recognized, which is why only 4 stars. Otherwise everything's perfect.

Dyslexia Trainer Certificate Program responded:
Thank you for your feedback! The professions of certified dyslexia and dyscalculia trainer are unregulated and not state-regulated. There can therefore be no state or regional recognition that would be necessary to practice the profession. Nevertheless, the trainings are widely recognized in Germany and other countries, and our diploma certificates are accepted as proof of qualification.

Warm regards,
