Excellent training and fantastic service from the ADA.
I'm very satisfied with what the program offers. The updates to the AFS test are clearly laid out. You're regularly kept informed about current continuing-education events and training materials. My one criticism — which cost a star in my rating — is that I felt very alone when it came to designing the practice sessions. Just taking part in a single training session brings nothing. Luckily I met a colleague (from a different training background) with whom I could exchange ideas about training materials and approaches, and I still do that regularly. In my opinion an online platform alone isn't enough.
The dyslexia and dyscalculia trainer program was very well organized; questions were always answered directly. The study materials were comprehensive but not overwhelming. Thanks to the flexible scheduling, it was doable alongside another job. Highly recommended overall!
I find the training materials excellent. I learned everything I need for practice. The support from the association was outstanding too.
I completed the dyslexia trainer program in six months and then had to wait another two months (the minimum study duration) before I could hold my diploma. The content was very interesting and clearly prepared, and even though I'm in the field professionally, there was always something new for me to learn and discover. Questions were answered within a few days, sometimes even the same day. The knowledge I gained from this program is a huge support in everyday life with people with dyslexia. The course gave me a lot of joy, and I happily recommend it. You should be aware up front, though, that especially the practical part takes a fairly substantial time investment — but it's absolutely worth the effort.
The materials are well prepared and understandable. Support is also very good. The time frame for the course is appropriate. What I missed was the option to do a trial training session or shadowing. You don't really know if you're explaining the content well and understandably, or if you're teaching the child well.
Good program with lots of theoretical tips. Compared to others, also affordable. The teaching material is well organized and understandable. Individual support is possible, though it could be expanded. Easy to apply in practice. I just don't always agree with the LRS guidelines in Germany.
A balanced ratio of independent learning and available help. The time allotted for the program is appropriate.
The study materials are very detailed and well structured. During the program, someone is always reachable when you have questions. Even after the program a contact person is always available for questions or suggestions. I was and am very happy with my choice.
I'm very satisfied with the dyslexia trainer program — the materials gave me enough theory and lots of practical inspiration. The online offerings also provide good options for finding answers or someone to talk to. A regular info brochure or similar publication with changing thematic focuses would be nice, but that's just my personal wish.
A few years ago I was simply assigned an hour of math support for a dyscalculic student. I'd been a teacher for many years, but I didn't know much about dyscalculia — I hadn't picked up much about it during my university studies either. After one or two support sessions I went online to inform myself and look for a continuing-education option. That's when I came across this program. A short conversation with my boss — since I was now going to invest money and time and didn't want to only support for one hour per week — and he agreed to give me main-subject hours, i.e. 4 to 6 hours per week. Said and done, I signed up, and the program was quite manageable alongside job and family life! The practical part was also fairly easy for me as a teacher, because I had plenty of students available. Only writing up the practical part dragged on — I kept pushing it off, because after almost 20 years as a teacher I was out of practice with written reflections on lessons. But once I got going, that went quickly too. The forum was very useful during the program; you got fast answers to questions. Even now the forum is still a help, even though I don't hang around there as often. Overall the program brought me a lot. At school I'm now the one who gets called in for problematic students. I've reserved one hour per week just for assessments, and we'll likely keep it that way. In the meantime, a colleague has also completed the program for reading/spelling difficulties, and our school leadership likes to advertise that the two of us are there for these issues. For some parents that's a major decision-making aid in considering their child's school path. I'd do this program again in a heartbeat!
I did the training for my children :-)
The certified dyslexia trainer program from the ADA was a great experience. From the start I was well looked after and always had a contact person by email. The materials for the program were well prepared and informative. The individual module tests were manageable once I'd worked through the content. Even in the practical module, the Club always offered a way to ask someone. Through this program I gained deep knowledge in the area of dyslexia and built a foundation for my current work as a learning therapist.
The dyslexia trainer training is good. You get a lot of insight into the topic. The additional professional conferences are also very informative. Personally, I'd recommend the training only for people who actually work with children or teenagers. For me the training was very exciting because I work a lot with children and wanted to understand them better. Starting your own practice in Germany is very difficult, almost impossible, so I wouldn't advise anyone to take the training just to go independent afterwards.
I'm delighted to help the children further with the new materials!
A comprehensive program, helpful forum, great learning and usage material — an excellent organization. From the first to the last step during the course, and still well supported afterward — that's what the ADA stands for.
I did the certified dyslexia and dyscalculia trainer training through the ADA's distance program and I'm very satisfied. At first I was skeptical because there were no in-person sessions. I thought I'd miss the exchange. My experience showed that I got a super-fast answer to every question. I can only recommend the training, and I'd do it the same way again myself.
- Informative continuing education - Easy to integrate into the workday - Competent contact people
I felt well advised and supported both during and now after my program. TOP preparation for practical work with children!
I think this program is top-notch. The books are well written and easy to understand. When you have questions, you can quickly reach someone. But what I find best is how practice-focused this program is — perfect for actually being able to work afterwards.
